Intermittent Limp

My dog has an intermittent limp. I have been to the vet and there does not seem to be anything wrong, can you help?

  1. Firstly, it is vital that you see your Vet ensure there is nothing they need to investigate further.

Intermittent limps can be extremely common and typical when the problem is predominantly or totally muscular The nature of the limp can be borderline infuriating as one moment they seem fine and the next they are limping. You may find that it is worse when they first get up from lying down or after they have rested after a walk.

You do not say whether the limp is in your dogs front or back legs? A very common intermittent lameness is in the front legs (quite often difficult to know which one!) if this is the case try to stop your dog jumping down from obstacles (including your car), if it is the back legs, again stop him jumping. I would suggest you contact one of our practitioners so that they can isolate the area and treat the area and hopefully with your Vets consent resolve the issue and give you instructions how you can help too! If you would like further help please post another question or call or email any one of us.
