Having been raised on a working farm in Kent, I have been surrounded by animals of all shapes and sizes as far back as I can remember. I currently have two dogs, Bruno, a 6 year old Black German Shepherd and Suka, a 6½ year old Pyrenean Mastiff X Italian Hunting Hound. Both are ‘rescue’ dogs, Bruno coming from Teckels Animal Sanctuary in Gloucester and Suka coming all the way from Italy.
Although my vocational background up until now has been in the field of Human Health Care, I have always maintained a keen interest in the welfare of animals and in particular dogs. I obtained The Certificate in Pet Dog Ownership in 1999, and went on to study Canine Psychology, and Anatomy & Physiology of Cats and Dogs.
I gained my Diploma in 2006 and since becoming a Galen Myotherapist, have built up professional working relationships with a number of veterinary practices within my local area. I have undertaken additional training in the use and application of Low Level Laser Therapy, Therapeutic Ultrasound and Canine Therapeutic Exercise, all of which can be utilised, if required, as part of the individual treatment plan designed for the specific needs of each dog.
Over the last couple of years I have developed a particular interest in the management and support of Canine Degenerative Joint disease such as Arthritis and Hip Dysplasia, and the effects, both primary and secondary that these can have on the dog’s body.

With ever increasing advances in veterinary surgery and medicine, there is no doubt our dogs are living longer into old age. Unfortunately, we forget or just don’t consider that our ‘geriatric’ dogs can suffer from the same pain and discomfort caused by the same musculo-skeletal conditions as us Humans. And that these conditions can have not only a physiologically impact on our dog’s health, but a psychological one as well, particularly if the chronic pain and discomfort resulting from these conditions is not adequately managed.

In the future I hope to develop and implement a ‘Pain Clinic’ in conjunction with one of the local veterinary practices in the area. This would offer a variety of specialist treatments aimed specifically at the relief and management of pain for dogs. We hope to be able to combine not only high quality conventional veterinary care in regards to suitable pain relief, anti-inflammatory drugs etc; but also a multi faceted approach encompassing a range of complementary therapies including Homeopathy, Acupuncture, Hydrotherapy and of course Myotherapy.
Areas covered
I currently cover East London, Essex, and parts of Kent and Hertfordshire. Where possible I prefer to treat dogs in the comfort of their own home environment where they are more likely to feel safe, secure and more relaxed. However treatment is available within a clinic in Essex.
