This workshop is intended for anyone who is involved or interested in the performance of their dog and how to improve their heath and longevity.
The performance dog is an athlete and no matter which form of agility your dog takes part in, from tracking and fly balls to trials and obedience, gun dog or showing activities, when you are performing or training for any event, dynamic warm up and warm down (using exercise) is critical. By further adding massage to this routine it can make a massive positive difference and help to avoid injury.
This one-day workshop is an introduction to how massage can help and it is designed for individuals with little or no experience / knowledge who would like to understand more about how their dog moves and the specific stresses involved therefore with this knowledge understand then ensure that their massage techniques are correct.
What you will learn
- Discuss and learn about the movement of the dog
- Study the relevant muscular stresses of different competitive disciplines
- Discuss how muscular stresses can effect your dog both everyday and when competing (short term and long term)
- Learn the tangible benefits of pre and post event massage both in performance, and preventing post event stiffness
- Learn how to be more in touch with your dogs health and well being
- Become familiar with relevant basic anatomy and some major muscle groups
- Understand more clearly the positive physiological and psychological effects massage have on a dog
- Discuss contraindications to massage
- Practice how to use 3 appropriate massage techniques and perform an effective pre and post event massage
This course is held in a dedicated training room that is totally dog friendly. There is ample good walking for your dog during lunch and break times. Parking is avaiable outside the training room.
