It really can’t be said enough, but it’s vital that we keep an eye on our dogs in warm weather. With temperatures currently towards 30°C in the UK, there’s always a risk of over-heating.
Remember, whilst your dog might feel like they should go for their normal walk, they could be at risk of direct damage from the sun. This could take the form of sensitive areas being burned, dehydration, and especially damage to the feet from walking on hot surfaces.
Ensure that you’ve got a cool space for your dogs to sit during a hot spell, and also provide cool treats when you can. Water, or a personal favourite – chicken stock ice-pops – helps keep their core temperature down; it’s vital to keep them cool from the inside out!
